There are three types of memberships: Regular, Associate and Affiliate: Membership Application

Regular Members: Organizations who engage in substantial consumer contact business activities, they shall be selected from; Mortgage Bankers, Mortgage Brokers, Life Insurance Companies, Banks and Trust Companies, Federal and State Savings & Loan Associations, and Real Estate Investment and Mortgage Trusts. (NOTE: The firms of Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company and Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation (ie: LandAmerica) are grandfathered into their Regular membership status.

Associate Members: Those applicants who are eligible for regular membership but have not yet met the two year eligibility requirement for length of time in business.

Affiliate Members: A company or individual that provides services and/or is directly related to the mortgage banking business. **Note: Associate and Affiliate members shall have no right to vote or to hold office except there may be two (2) Associate or Affiliate members appointed and/or elected to the Board of Directors.

A company is considered to be the member, not the individual. The employees of member companies may attend the meetings and participate in the group's activities. Regular members only are entitled to one vote on items requiring a membership decision.

The association generally meets once a month, usually on the second Monday of the month with the exception of the summer months. The completed application must be accompanied by the following:
- A letter of recommendation from a Regular Member, signed by a senior member of that company.
- The Company's license number or copy of the operating letter from the Pennsylvania Department of Banking under the Mortgage Bankers and Brokers Licensing Act, if applicable.
- A check payable to "Mortgage Bankers Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania" in the amount of $50 representing a non-refundable application fee.
